Ink Fill button SEEMS to work but doesnt suck ink in
Every once in a while my white ink will have a blue tint to it. I usually do a head cleaning or two and it clears it up. Not this time. It seemed as if the white inks werent coming out at all.
I got out my syringe and flushed the tube. No luck. Cleaned the capping. Nothing. Rinsed out the dampers. Nope.
Being very aggravated at this point I plopped down $300 for a new head (only to find out I could have gotten it $100 cheaper online...this added to my "happiness").
Installed new head. New tubes and harness (old one kept on bunching up) and 3 new dampers. Hit 'Ink Fill' button. Nothing. Read online and it sounds like the pump is dead.
My question is if the pump is dead, wouldnt the capping station not drain when I drop cleaner on it?? I am thinking the pump is okay because it DOES suck the old stuff out of the station and the cleaning solution when I put it there.
I checked all the dumb stuff...all lines are open, pressing the right button, no boogers in the ink containers, not filled up too much etc....
After just spending $300 for a new head and $100 for a new harness, I REALLY dont want to have to find out how much a pump is.
Anyone have any brilliant ideas I can try?? This stuff ALWAYS seems to happen over the weekend with a holiday! I'm even open to hiring a local tech to come look at it as a last resort.
Thanks for all your continued support in my agony....

No blinking lights. Power light is on as well as the eject light which is normal. The sound when I push the ink fill button is the same from day one. If I were blind, I would assume its working perfectly.
(There is a big dent in the side where Ive been banging my head against it though! )
Re: Ink Fill button SEEMS to work but doesnt suck ink in
It might be the seal on your capping station is worn, and it is not getting proper suction. So it is pumping right? and the cleaning solution gets sucked out when you put it in your capping station? To me it does sound like it is not sealing well, due to the seal on the capping station being worn. I am thinking tis time to replace the capping station

Right...the solution does get sucked out. I guess that does make sense though about the capping station.
Am I going to have to replace EVERYTHING during the life of this thing? Sheesh....now I wanna kill the tech guy who said I need I new head....although Im sure I'll need one of those soon too....
Re: Ink Fill button SEEMS to work but doesnt suck ink in
I got it in February of this year. Already replaced one head in March or April.
Now I am doing a decent amount of stuff. I get on average 2 orders a day since late June....and random junk here and there. So it IS getting used a bit, but I dont really know how that compares with everyone else...
Re: Ink Fill button SEEMS to work but doesnt suck ink in
It sounds like it if it getting a fair amount of use, it sounds like it could be the capping station to me. They are a part that does wear out after time. They are not to expensive to replace, less then $100 I believe. It is one of those things that people will usually replace every six months or so as part of machine maintenance. I have to say I have not done this Just because I have not had any issues with mine yet haha. I have the HM1 though and not the kiosk.

Well less than $100 sounds better than $300!
Hopefully it wont be that hard to swap out. The head was a LOT easier than I thought it would be. I figured Id have to take the entire cartridge out to get to it!
Re: Ink Fill button SEEMS to work but doesnt suck ink in
No problem, if you need any help changing it out, I think there is a pdf instructions for the tjet on equipment zones site, which basically is the same for the kiosk as they are the built on the same epson system.

Moose,
Are you able to pull ink through the white ink lines with a syringue? What does your nozzle check look like (I know you have no whites, but do the colors look good)?
Bobbielee is right about the capping station, once a year at least you should change it and some do it more often. They are actually less than $30.
Re: Ink Fill button SEEMS to work but doesnt suck ink in
You might want to soak your printhead while waiting for the capping station. Do you know how to do this? Remove your printhead from your printer and use a small container with about 1/4 inch of cleaning solution in it. Set the printhead in there facedown. You might also want to try and make sure the nozzles are clear by using a syringe, and sucking fluid up through the printhead, instead of pushing down through it. Do this until you are sure you are getting fluid through all nozzles. Once you think you have them all clear just squirt a little through the printhead with light pressure, and look to see that all nozzles are spraying in even lines across. This will at least make sure your printhead is clear and not getting clogged sitting there.
Make sure when you put it back in that you attach the cables exactly as they were removed, and that there is no moisture anywhere near your ribbon connectors on your printhead. I cant caution enough that you do not want to get any moisture anywhere near your cables or connections as this can fry your motherboard. Its best to do the printhead cleaning and then let it dry out for a couple of days just to make sure, and since you are ordering a capping station, that will give you time to do this

I just installed the capping station and that was the problem! I am getting to the point where I can swap out these parts with ease Ive done it so much at this point! lol
Thanks to Bobbielee and Don for the reassurance of the solution....
