Default Possible M/B problem...

hi folks.

Yesterday had to order a new print head as the ink was not flowing through to the dampers.

Fitted it up and it is pulling the ink through no problem.

Now for some reason the Power light and Error Eject light are flashing together and it seems to keep doing head cleans.

When i changed over the print head, the ribbon had a brown mark at the end of the cable, i'm guessing it has short fused, and killed the motherboard.

Any other ideas?

thanks in advance!

replace the ribbon?? before you do that though, if the two are blinking together, it might mean you need to clean the encoder strip or reset the waste ink.....i'd try both of those before getting new parts...

I agree, make sure to reset your waste ink counter, and then restart your machine. Usually slow flashing lights are for the waste ink counter, and quicker flashing lights is an error with the encoder strip or wheel (which should be cleaned with a foam tip cleaner and windex). If you can get a ribbon cable fairly easy, I would replace it too, as a short in your cable can short out your motherboard.

Reset the ink counter and cleaned the encoder strip, still the same problem. Going to order a new ribbon. Do you have to just replace the print ribbon?

I would first replace the print head ribbon cable to see if that fixes your problem before changing the main board. If you have a burn mark on the ribbon cable you should replace it anyway, even if the the main board will need to be replaced. The ribbon cable for this model is sold as one piece and is fairly inexpensive - around $32.

We do supply a dvd with every print head ribbon cable we send out which shows how to change the cable on a T-Jet 2 which is basically a twin to your Kiosk.
