Im FINALLY ready to purchase...some last min advice please...
Hello everyone, Im finally ready to purchase my DTG and Embriodery machine combo. Im in the middle of getting a $25,000 loan and take a leap of faith. I have already lined up some work to keep me going as well...
Here is my problem...I now reside in Boca Raton Florida. I was planning on buying from SWF East but if I do, because I live in Florida, I have to pay the 6% sales tax. Thats pretty pricey on a $24,000 purchase. Is there any way around this or would you recommend buying from somewhere else and having it shipped here. They are no longer making the Kiosk II and now have to either wait 2 months for the Kiosk III or buy the HM1 and Im also going with the 15 needle Embriodery machine. Would anyone please be able to offer me some advice on how I can go about this? Ideally I would like to pay no sales tax and get free shipping. I have called SWF East 3 times and have gotten 3 different answers talking to 3 different people so obviously there is some room for nogotiation...Im kind of pressed for time and need to make the purchase in the next two weeks...Thanks in advance, Nick

About the tax. It doesn't matter where you buy it from. If your dealer is out of state and doesn't charge you tax when you bring it in to Florida you are required to submit the tax yourself.
This is the same for most states in the US and provinces in Canada.
You might be able to ignore it but tax evasion is tax evation. I would check it out well before you decided to buy something out of state just to avoid/evade the taxman.

Well Im really not evading taxes....I mean I guess I am in a way but not looking to do it in an illegal way. I mean I used to live in Mass and only 15 mins from the New Hampshire border and would run up there when I was going to make a big purchase because its tax free. Its like when you buy something on Ebay you don't have to pay taxes unless you buy from in state. I really wouldn't have to claim anything for it to be legal...I have looked into leasing. I know that if you lease you can keep writing it off but I hate paying intereset. If i take out a loan and purchase it Im looking to pay this off in a year. I have about $5000 worth of work lined up, im going to be supplying a tee shirt website with all of their orders and my work needs new company shirts and my boss is waiting on my purchase so he can help me out. I would like to pay this off in one year, Take the one time tax write off and own it all out right. Then I would easily be able to afford a shop next year if all goes well...

nick, have you read all the threads about this evil machine here ?
i had purchased one, had a very bad time with it and sold it after 6 months losing a lot of money.
wait a little, try to get more information.
it is a problematic piece of junk.
i own a versa-camm and this is a fine machine, please think what kind of t-shirts you want to produce.
many people including me have started to like heat transfers again, easy and cheap!
good luck

In all fairness, Discmann, you boughht your machine almost 2 years ago and not from the company that Nick is looking at (as an FYI he was here yesterday and bought a Kiosk II and embroidery machine). The HM-1 C is not the machine you purchased - you purchased an HM-1. All of our machines include either one or two days of training that help address issues with the machines caused by improper ot lack of maintenance. If you trulty felt that the machine you sold was a piece of junk, how do you sleep at night having sold it to someone else?

i really wish that hm1 c is an improved model which has not the problems that hm1 had.
when i sold the machine i informed the guy about all he might had to face. luckily, he returned it to the company i had purchased it from and got other machinery so he lost no money.talking about sleeping well, what about your sleep who has sold so many hm1s around? what about all those who lost so much money with hm1s and they do complain with pain inside here?
anyway good luck with the new model.
i have to say that you helped me a lot those days but i still pay on my credit vards precious money.
kind regards

Steven, I'm not that far from you (Somerset NJ) and I also have a Kiosk. We just went to the training for it, very helpful...
As for the original poster, I thought you couldn't get a Kiosk anymore, I think they are discontinued? We also bought a package in December, we got the Kiosk, an E1501T/Sequin and the Design Maxx software. They just delivered the 1501 last week, still learning how to work it.

Just because you had problems does not mean everyone with the HM1 has. I have had my machine going on 2 years, and it works as good today as when I bought it. Its not fair to make a blanket statement about a machine. Absolutely post about if you have had problems, but to say they are all bad is not true. If they were you would see me posting that as well, but I am not because my machine works great.

Re: Im FINALLY ready to purchase...some last min advice please...
Well I have not printed in the last couple of months, due to having spinal cord surgery in January 09, but I have run white ink in my printer the entire time I have had it. I have replaced my printhead only one time and that was due to me not doing proper maintenance because of health issues at the time. That first printhead lasted a year though. I think as long as proper maintenance is done and one understands what goes into printing white, you can be sucessful. I think the main thing that happens with those that are unhappy, is that they did not fully educate themselves before purchasing, and then are dissapointed because there is more to it then they thought.
If you are wanting to buy a printer that prints on dark shirts, that you can print large runs at a low price, and little maintenance, then any white ink printer would not be what you need.
If you are looking to print on dark shirts with high detail or alot of colors, can charge a premium price for smaller runs on a consistant basis, and dont mind taking care of the equipment then it could be the perfect solution.
That is the thing, it needs to fit the business model its being purchased for. If it doesnt you wont be happy with it. If it does, it could be a great investment to your business.
