Default Configure Rip Pro and Outputs?

Hello again everyone, I was hoping I could get a little more help? I broke down and bought rip pro. I just installed it, and watched all the configuration videos. I'm a little confused on the settings of the printer. Having a kiosk 2, should my default printer be set on "Kiosk with White ink," or "Epson 2200 driver?" in my computer printer settings? In Rip Pro, under Outputs, do I want the driver to be "Kiosk with White Ink," or "Epson 2200 Driver?"

As of now, I know my computer communicates with my Kiosk through the Epson 2200 driver. I've run head cleanings this way. Can somebody show me the light here? Thanks a ton again everyone.

Kevin

When you install Rip Pro, it should go through a screen that asks what printer you have. If you have the kiosk II then you should choose that selection, and let the program install where it needs to go. It should do this all on its own. Of course make sure your epson driver is installed before your rip pro. But the program should configure itself to where it needs to be. I have never had to configure the drivers on my program. Although you do want to make your kiosk II your default printer in your printer folders, once everything is installed.

I swear Sunnydayz, you are really awesome for being such a great help. I did install the program naturally. When I had Print Pro, Epson 2200 was the default printer. It seems like in the video, the guy says that Kiosk with white ink should be the default, but at one point he says that in Rip Pro output que, Epson 2200 should be selected. Maybe I'm thinking about this too hard, but I can't figure out a way to make sure everything is communicating correctly. I don't have ink in the system right now, because I'm waiting on shirts, but I want to make sure everything is working correctly before they come in. Is there anyway to tell that things are communicating without having ink in the printer?

This video will show you the process of verifying that the ports are set for the correct print queues.

The key is that you want the Output Queue that the files are going through to match the same port as the Epson 2200 driver is set to when plugged into the computer. If you change out the USB cord from one port to another on the computer, the USB port will change and you will probably have a 2nd queue that is created - usually listed as Epson Stylus Photo 2200 (Copy 1). You need to know which Epson queue is currently the active one. You can do this by running a nozzle check from the Epson queues until the printer responds to it.

Hope this helps.

Mark

I would put distilled water in your lines, and send a file through the rip. You can even just put a piece of paper on top of your platen. You will be able to tell just by if it prints the water on the paper

I really appreciate this help from both of you. That video is very helpful Dag, and the printing water solution is perfect Sunnydaze. That's exactly what I need to do to make sure everything is communicating correctly, but I didn't know if it was "ok" to print the distilled water for testing. I'm going to jump back into this today. Thank you both for the help.

On this Mark, I only have three printers associated with the Kiosk. They are "Kiosk w/ White Ink," "Epson 2200 Stylus," and "Output Que." Judging by the video, it looks like I need to set the 2200 and Output Que to my USB port. Does this sound right? Then really, there is no need for the "Kiosk w/ White ink" printer name? Does this sound to you that I have all the right printer names? I don't need anymore should I?

Kwelp68 the printers ( Epson and output que) must point to the same USB port then the Kiosk points to the output que!

When I try to print, it tells me "can't write to device." Does anyone know what this means?

When you print, print to the Kiosk w/ white ink. Not the others.

Thank you for being patient with me. What's weird is that I can print directly through corel by sending the picture to powerrip output que. I can then reprint it in Rip Pro by right clicking it and telling it to reprint. I can't pull up my artwork in rip pro through the create print job, and then print it. This is where it tells me can't write to device. This is the method I would like to use so I can easily move the drawings on the virtual print bed.

Just talked to Mesa, and it sounds like they're not sure what the deal is. They told me to uninstall and then reinstall rip pro. Why in the hell would Rip Pro take the job from Corel, and print it, and then let me reprint it through rip pro, but not let me just print it in the first place from rip pro??

Do you still have printpro installed? I would make sure that rip pro is your default. I might even just uninstall printpro and rip pro, and then reinstall rip pro so it sets itself to the default program. I am not sure if this would work but it makes sense to me haha. I have never had two rips installed at the same time, but it seems that may be creating a problem. That print pro was installed first, there for assigned as the default.

Thanks Sunnydayz. If I uninstall Rip Pro, and then Re install it, am I going to lose a validation code? The tech I talked to didn't sound to sure. He said if I just uninstall it and reinstall it, I shouldn't.

I'm not sure what your graphic are written in. If you created them in Corel and saved them as a crd file, Rip Pro does not support them (Importing them). I did what I think you are trying to do using a jpeg file and it worked fine.
The CD that came with my machine had a bad file in it and the program wouldn't work. Make sure you download the correct ver (3or4). Otherwise you will not be able to validate the software.

Default Re: Configure Rip Pro and Outputs?

Here is the problem. You first found out what the Epson 2200 driver was set to. Then you set the Output Queue to the same port as the Epson 2200 driver. This was correct. You should leave the Kiosk w/ White Ink to the RIP Server (it might be called RIP Pro Server on your product, my is called PowerRIP Server). Correct this setting and it should work perfectly fine without having to remove the PrintPro software.

The way it works is you select the Kiosk w/ White Ink in your Print window in your graphic software program. Then the file goes to an Hot Folder located on the C:\Drive (probably labeled RIPProHotFolders, my is PowerRIPHotFolders). From there, this folder is read every 3-5 seconds by the RIP and the file is then processed by the RIP and sent to the Output Queue. With the Output Queue set to the same port as the Epson 2200 driver, the file then automatically sent to the Epson 2200 driver.

Pretty simple process once you understand it.
