Hi guys
We currently have a used HM1 that we are currently setting up. Software has been installed, dongles in etc.
After I installed maintenanace disk I tried to ink charge. It would not let me do this step.
Error - communication error
The epson 2400 driver has been installed.
We set it to LPT1 though it is attached to a USB lead.
Any help would be great, do we need an unistall etc?
The way I have my epson driver setup is, I have it on USB /virtual port for usb. The printer selected is Power Rip Output Queue 1 epson. It should have installed where it goes by itself though. What windows version are you running? Is it xp or vista? If you are running Vista, you might have to change the operating environement in your epson printer preferences.

If you are running vista, try this and see if it works. You need to change the windows
mode that it runs in. You need to go to the folder where your maintenance
program is installed. Right click on the Maintenance program and click run
as administrator. Now in the window that comes up, you should see where it
shows which windows it is running under. Switch the mode to "XP service
pack 2 mode", then click ok.
This should fix your problem and it should work after that. The reason it
does not work in vista mode, is that it was built before vista was.

Thanks for the quick reply sunnydayz. We have XP at the minute so not sure what the problem is. Could it be anything to do with the dongle or sentinel dongle I have for rip etc?
anyone had similar probs at initail installation?
Did you change the port it is on? If so I would try reinstalling, and let the program choose the port itself. I don't think LPT1 is going to work for the port if you are on a usb.

Hi
Yes I thought it was a bit strange but in the manual it says select lpt1 and then says plug in usb.
I think a reinstall is the way forward.
thanks for getting back
