Default DTG Assembly

Hello everyone,

After months of planning, research, and money I finally got my DTG HM-1 yesterday morning. The distributors mentioned that training for me is in Sacramento which is about 2 hours away from my home in the bay area and that i was responsible for the machine assembly

My question is: is it normal for this machine or other dtg printers to be assembled by the end user? I thought the distributrs would send someone in to assemble the machine for us and train us nearby or on our actual machine? Im afraid if we put the machine together and set it up but it does not work - we will be considered liable for a defunct printer.

If this is normal: is assembly of a DTG hard?

any comments are welcome. thanks.

justin

my dtg (kiosk II) came fully assembled crated and freight shipped to me...all that needed to be done was filling inks, which was done when the trainer came to the shop for a day and went over everything with us...

I have an HM1. There is very little "assembly" needed. What is needed is clearly described in the documentation. I am confident even my technophobe wife could have done it. I can't remember exactly what I had to do but it was fairly simple. I think I had to hook up the WIMS bottle, remove the shipping brackets and there were probably a few other small items too. No big deal. Assembling the plattens was much more involved than setting up the machine.

I too picked up my crated machine, brought it home and installed it myself. Its fairly simple. Just open the crate, put the machine where you are going to use it, make sure to take off the safety lock bars. Once you do this its all about filling the inks and installing your rip and maintenance software. Make sure not to lose your dongle to your maintenance software

The only assembly work I can imagine on a HM-1 would be the installation of the WIMS recirculation bottle bottle and (as mentioned) removal of the transit screws.

Hey Justin,
I recently bought a used DTG Kiosk and wanted to get training out of Sac. I can't get the training person to call me back. Did you end up going to a training class and where was it? How did you find out about it? Thank you, Jeanne

Yes it is normal for that machine. It is a great machine but the support isn't all that great.
