Ok, here's my deal. I have a Kiosk 1 that has been upgraded to a Kiosk 2, white ink upgrade, and added the WIMS system. I just had all of this done at SWF Mesa, and so I know the printer works well and saw it print. I am currently awaiting a shirt delivery and have been running cleaning solution through the printer until I get the shirts, and then will start with the ink.
My problem is this; I have Print Pro software with the USB dongle. I have heard that this is what allows you to print white ink. I have Corel XI, and Corel X3. I have been using Corel X3 to take my pictures and knock the backrounds out into Vector. Once I knock the backround out, it changes the photo file to an image that can only communicate with Corel. I cannot drop it into Print Pro. I have however learned how to make a white base underlay through Corel. Do I have to use Print Pro to print my images onto shirts? Do all my images have to be in Vector format as to not print a white backround? Can anybody who does a lot of printing help me some software advice? Anybody use print pro have some advice? I will love you forever if you can give me some pointers and some help. Take care.
Ok, I think I've got my software and pictures figured out, spent all day yesterday messing with it. I can't figure out how to align the print using print pro. Can somebody help me with this? For example, here's a picture of exactly where I would like to print on the kiosk bed. I want to be able to print on the bottom right corner of this handmade 5" x 5" platen. How do I align my X and Y coordinates so that the printer prints in this small area of the printing bed? Here's also a picture of where you would put the coordinates in on the software. Somebody help??
why not print direct from corel?? i use corel 12...and once i have my design set and placed where it needs to be in the file, i go to file/print and select the kiosk with white ink and set my alignment to print top center....it will print exactly as you have it in the file and then you can play with the placement to make sure it prints exactly where you want it.....
I wasn't sure if I could do that or not. If so, this may be the way that I want to go. Is it correct that I will have to make the white layer in Corel?

This is one of the ways you can print using RIP Pro... not sure if you can do the same with Print Pro. Names sound the same, but are really two different software programs. Might want to contact the distributor that sold you the printer and see if you can do this with Print Pro.
Print Pro is a program where you need to import your raster graphics before you can print. Unfortuantely you cant print direct from your graphics app unless you use Rip Pro (different software).
This is what I do for position. All my artwork I create in photoshop. I create in a canvas 13" x 18" (or shorter depending on artsize). That basically is your print area of the computer. You can then move your artwork around and that is where it will be printed on the platen. Much easier then using the alignment feature in Print Pro.

Thank you so much for this info! Though, what do you mean move it around? Do I do this in Corel or in Print Pro? Can you give me a little more detail of your process. I can set up a 13" X 18" canvas on Corel and make my artwork. Where do I go from there? Do I upload it into Print Pro, and then move it around? Again, this is really helping me, so thank you for any input.
What I mean is you can move the design around the canvas (in Corel). Then you open the file in Print Pro and print from there. So if you want the design to be printed more to the right, have the design shifted to the right hand side of the canvas in Corel.
Have the rulers open in Corel so you know where the design will be printed.
Create a template in Corel or Adobe based on the size of your platen. Then position the graphic in the place you want it to be printed on the platen. Then save the file out as a raster graphic. Open the file in Print Pro and send it to the printer. The only negative part to doing it this way is you are having to process all the white areas of the graphic... so it might take alittle longer to RIP the file, but I doubt you will even notice it after a while.

Thank you soo much Zhenjie and DAGuide.
Ah hah! I got you. What a cool trick! Do I have to pick a print format in Print Pro under the size options? Where in print options, it gives you 4 different formats, or do I just hit print and it goes?
Also, this may be a little off topic, but I'm using both Corel XI and Corel Draw X3. The newer Corel, and the one I'm more unfamiliar with (X3) has way more fonts and seems like it has better capabilities than Corel XI. The only thing is, is that I can't figure out how to manipulate the text I put down on a canvas. In Corel XI you could simply click on the text, and then manipulate the size, and so on. Does anyone know how to do this in Corel X3. Also, sometimes I pull up PSD files in Corel X3 that have no backround in Corel XI, but in Corel X3 have black backrounds. Only some pictures do it, and I can't figure out why this is?? Again, thank you for everybody who is helping me. It really is making things smoother.
For the text in X3 make sure to have the text tool selected first, and then click on your text. From there you will get all of the options up at the top, as far as fonts and size. You do need to make sure you have selected the text tool first though I am not sure what is happening with your psd files, are you sure you are saving them with a transparent backround? When you open them in Photoshop, do you see the backround as the gray and white squares? If so you should not be seeing a backround in corel.

Hey Sunnydayz, thanks for the reply. I'm not really sure what's happening. I'll make an image on a canvas that is comprised of both text and graphics. I'll knock the backrounds out so it is the grey and white squares. I'll then save it as a psd file. Most of the files come back up in corel with white and grey squares, but sometimes some images I've made come up with an all black backround. I can't figure out why some of them do this. On that note, when printing, should I use only psd files? Do the backrounds have to be knocked out? I could use jpeg format but would the white in the backround print? Thanks again everyone.
Re backgrounds. Its always best to have a transparent background, that way the RIP will never get it wrong. This is especially the case with Print Pro and printing white underbase. If you have a background Print Pro will print a white ink underbase for the entire background = big waste of ink.
If you have a jpg with a white background then its ok if you are printing on a white t-shirt. Print Pro will not print any areas of pure white.

This is good to know. Thanks a ton Zhenjie. I'm going to try to stick to using just psd files, but I'm new to them and am going to have to get used to using them. Now when I did my 13 X 18 canvas and then bring the image up in print pro, it doesn't seem to sit in the same place as it did in Corel. Just a minute ago, I saved a psd file image in Corel. I then brought it up in Print Pro, and a tiny edge of the image was cut off, like I cropped part of the image out. I don't know how I will be able to use this method if print pro isn't pulling the image up the same as I made it on Corel. Man, this is making my head spin.....
Do you have a page margin set up on corel draw? I would go to the page layout in corel and make sure there is no margin. That is what is sounds like, that there might be a margin on your layout. Hope this helps
