Question nozzle check: Stair Step going up and down

Hello,

I am using a DTG Kiosk II with Rippro v4.

I recently notice, than when I do my daily nozzle, the magenta color stair steps are going up and down, instead of all going down.

[see a photo of my nozzle check attached to this post]

I did a head alignment but nothing changed.

Does anyone have a idea of what is the problem, and how to fix it?

Thank you very much for your help,

Syl

From what my service techs have seen, the jagged lines are an early indication that the print head is starting to clog on that color. Unfortunately once it starts there's really nothing you can do to fix it.

thank you Harry,

wierd I am clocking only on Magenta... esp with my little Humidificator.

I am going to order a printhead, certainly at equipment Zone.

(BTW, 2 weeks ago I got a sleeves board from you, and i have a doubt about, how to properly set the sleeve on it, maybe you have a picture with an example?
(maybe its a better idea i make a new post about that)

The pattern in your picture is referred to as nozzle deflection. Cleaning the surface of the printhead can sometimes clear this up. Saturate a pad with Isopropyl alcohol and press it against the print head face for several seconds then gently wipe the face of the print head. Do a couple of head cleanings, let the printer set for 10 minutes or so and then print another nozzle check to see if the print is better. If it is better, but not perfect, try again.
Hope this helps!

hello,

Don solution is not working for me, I can say than the nozzle check lines are cleaner, but the stair steps up and down issue remain the same after 3 tries.

I guess I will have to switch to Harry solution.

Thank you,

Try flushing your printhead with some cleaning solution. Do it before it gets worse (a permanent clog)

I left cleaning solution in the line for 3 days, I still have the stairs step problem.

In an other forum, someone suggested to use (carefully) 100% ammonia. I have a big order to do, after it, I will try that solution.

im also having this problem and only on magenta too.

ive had this problem from the start, but it seems to be getting worse, ive done very little prints and keep the machine parts very clean.

can anyone explain what is actually going on in the head that causes this?

if the nozzles were blocked surely they would not print at all.

ive tried cleaning fluid and isopropyl, but this still hasnt helped.

Default Re: nozzle check: Stair Step going up and down

most of the time when you have a deflection problem this is being cuased by drying inside the printhead nozzle to correct this problem without purchasing costly printheads first its going to take alittle of time and patients. Start by cleaning the surface of the printhead well and then clean the capping station were the printhead seals the next step is soaking depending on what printer you are using basically you use the cleaning solution not alcohol or amonia whatever the cleaning solution you use to do manual cleans fill up the captop or cleaning station with the cleaning fluid (this needs to be done while printer is off) make sure the cleaning fluid puddles in the capping station and does not drain if it drains the captop line needs to be pinched by a clip and the filled. Once the cap is puddled to the rim with cleaning solution cap the heads back to where the bottom of the head seals with the captop and let this sit overnight or over weekend. come back once the soak is complete and do a purge or cleaning through the panel of printer then do a nozzle test see if it is getting better if not try again. I have found depending on how deflected the nozzles are on the head this procedure might need to be done 3 or 4 times but it does work. Just b/c nozzle is deflecting you dont have to replace head and deflection is due to either not enough usage of printer or ink clogging in head, captop or pump.

Don,
Help. I had some of the nozzel deflection issues this thread was talking about so I thought that I would follow the procedure you described and now I can't get a good nozzel check. I don't even know how many head cleanings I have done now and am getting inconsistent results. Maybe I wasn't "gentle" enough when I wiped off the print head but I sure thought I was. My waste ink bottle was almost empty when I started and now it is over half full. Head cleanings are not fixing the problem. Do you have any ideas?

Brian

Edit: I tried sucking ink through with the syringe and the first nozzle check after that was better but still not good then it went right back to what it was doing before.

brian- the first time i wiped or soaked the print head several weeks ago i had the same problem.

try just doing a small print to get some larger amount of ink moving through, then do a head clean then another nozzle check.

at first i freaked out thinking i had damaged it, but then everything was ok, besides the magenta nozzle deflection issue.

but i will now try soaking the head in the capping station as suggested.

thanx for all the advice and suggestions guys
