Your ink lines should be going to the dampers. You do not need to flush out the lines when changing the print head. Just unplug the dampers from the print head and remove and replace it.
I would also replace the dampers while you are at it, just to make sure your clogging is not coming from one of them. They are fairly cheap to replace and it will make sure that you have gotten rid of the complete problem. I see far too often people replacing printheads, only to figure out after that they had clogged dampers as well.

did that and i replaced the capping and pump assembly and wiper blades before finding out the print head was probably gone....just replaced it so i sure hope this machine works now...
