Funny thing, the 3 whites are all drawing fine, the colors are acting up. I cleaned the damper and was able to get some ink to pop out of the black tube but when I turn on the ink fill the black wont move. There is an air bubble in it so I turned the knob off and ran the ink fill to create a vacuum and that didn't work.
Any other suggestions?
The ink bottles are half full.
BTW, I had one on drawing the ink with a syringe so beyond that, any tips on unclogging this thing? Links to pictures or video on doing this would be great.
It could also be a capping station issue. If you check the ink flow upo to and through the damper with a syringue - it will eliminate everything prior to the printhead. Have you tried swapping the G-white damper with the K damper and then doing a nozzle check? This will confirm whether the problem is in the K line or the printhead. If it is the printhead, I would suggest replacing it and then seeing if you can unclog the old one once it is out of the machine. I know that printheads are not cheap, but, neither is your time.
Look under the Maintenance section you will see the removal and install videos right there. These are actually form the vidoe we did for the Kiosk/Kiosk II.
Here is where I am at. I was able to draw cleaning solution through all of the channels except black. I applied suction to the black and was not able to get it to move.
Should I pull the damper out and try this? What other things can I do to unclog the black line?
Can I put a little cleaning solution in the capping station?
I was able to do a complete flush on the black. I will let it sit for a few hours and then try to reload the colors to see if I can get something going here.
Ok, I finally got this one off the ground and got my best prints ever even though the check pattern is not full.
I ran the solution into the system and let it sit all day with intermittent head cleanings. The K channel was a complete road block and it finally gave way with a full flush after about 4 hours.
I still wasn't getting printing so I topped off the bulk ink wells, they were at 1/2, and that did the trick.
Good to hear Fred. One of the things that I think everyone should do is run cleaning fluid through their machine every so often to clean the head out. I think the benefits have become more apparent with more of the closed ink systems (i.e. ink in cartridges) that make it easy to pull out the ink and put the clean cartridges in.
I guess it is kinda like an oil change for your printer. Good to clean it out every now and then. ZoomMonster told me that if he knows he is going out of town, he will save his non-white ink jobs tell the end and then put the cleaning fluid in the lines when he is in the process of doing the non-white ink jobs. This way, when the printer does the automatic maintenance, it will begin the process of running cleaning fluid through the lines with the white ink. This way you can save some money on the ink cost.
