just out of curiosity...how often do people out here have to soak their print head and for how long to get their machine to work?
cuz i have been soaking mine everyday for 1-2hrs per MESA techs and i still have a whole bunch of backed up orders that require white...i am a very unsatisfied MESA customer right now... can anyone shine some light on this problem! thank you.
Re: How often does everyone soak their Print Head!?
whoa...i've never heard of anyone having to do that. i'm new to DTG, but i'd be bummed and pissed (like you), if i had to lose 2 hrs a day to soak my print head in cleaning solution.

I'm a little confused here. Do you have a clogged printhead and a tech at Mesa told you to soak it in cleaning solution to try and see if it will unclog? Or are you soaking the printhead as part of a maintenance schedule they told you to regularly do?
And did you remove the printhead from the printer to do this?

Re: How often does everyone soak their Print Head!?
both. i have flushed all the lines/elbows and dampers and the white ink only works for one print then fades away. the tech at mesa then suggested we do this. after doing so i got about 2.5 prints of white...so im asking if anyone else out here does that to clean/etc their print head to get it to print.
Re: How often does everyone soak their Print Head!?
You have either bad dampers or a bad print head. I have seen numerous posts about damper problems with the DTG Kiosk printers so I would check that first. You may also need to replace your print head.
Your soaking the print head is not going to fix the problem and should not be part of a daily maintenance program. You can cause an electrical short in your ribbon cable or main board by doing this

Re: How often does everyone soak their Print Head!?
ok have you ever hear of dampers clogging within 12 hrs of being replaced with brand new ones from MESA?
because that is what i have experienced...i know for a fact that the damper system is faulty, however i expected to get more than 12 hrs of use out of new ones.

The fact you are getting the white ink to start flowing initially does not necessarily constitute a clog issue, more likely a leak in your system ink delivery system.
Do your color channels work without dropping out?
1:Check all the dampers for leaks.
2:Check all the ink line connections.
3: You may need to raise your white ink level with respect to the print head.
4:Make sure your capping station gasket and wiper are clean.
5: Make sure the white ink bottle breather holes are clear.

The dampers have fine filters inside that will catch large particles, if new dampers are clogging this quickly then it may be a bad batch of white ink.
Consider filtering your white ink.

so pretty much im going to need a new $375 printhead for a machine that i have had for just over a month and had less than 200 sucessful prints on??
Even if it was caused by bad ink, in any case it does sound like you will need a new print head. Which model machine do you have? If it's only been a month you could call DTG and complain. Maybe they would give you a head for free or at a discount.
Re: How often does everyone soak their Print Head!?
i just purchased the brand new HM-1 printer. it is like an on going battle with them to get GOOD tech support and to get replacement parts. i already had them ship me 4 new dampers within 3 weeks of receiving the machine. i guess youre right, get on the phone and fight them for a new printhead. thanks
