Default agitator turn on time

for those that have an agitator on their dtg machine, how long is it supposed to run for?

i ask this because ours only turns on when the machine is first turned on in the morning, when i have been told it agitates the white ink all day. i think this might be the culprit of our dampers clogging.

It would be the DTG HM1 Kiosk which comes with the agitator built in.

If the agitator is not running all day then you should be swirling the bottles every time you get a chance. Put some marbles inside the bottles too as that helps with the swirling.

You can also buy the agitator (or WIMS system) as an aftermarket item for the Kiosk. We paid £300 including installation for ours, and it doesn't work. It agitates for a fixed time every 6 hours, and performs head cleans, but we've still had a build up of solid white ink in the tank on more than one occasion. YES Ltd (our supplier) were horrified by this and said they'd try and come up with a work around solution. That was 3 months ago, and they have done nothing.
If you do have an agitator installed and you're not going to use your printer for a couple of days, change the valves to the cleaning position or you'll come back to empty ink tanks.
Oh, and the dial on the WIMS os for the speed of rotation, not duration.

I haven't seen the agitator in action, can someone please tell me what it exactly does? Does it simply vibrate or does it actually manage to swirl or move the bottles? If it simply vibrating I dont see any benefit of that.

I am guessing a vacuum is formed and the ink will empty into the waste ink tank. but that is just a guess

That could happen on any machine, with or without the agitator. What does the agitator have to do with it?

more because of the auto head cleanings, this means you have to have the waste tank open (not sure if you can even close it on that model). I know on the Tjet you are supposed to close your wast tank when not in use to prevent this.

Because the WIMS does auto head cleans that use a lot of ink.
