Hi, I am going to purchase a DTG printer and am thinking about the Kiosk. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with printing on non-fabrics like golf balls, mugs, and other plastics. Is this difficult to do and what is the quality like? Also is it possible to print on something small like golf tees?
This might be more of a question for the sales person but...Are there any additional accessories needed after purchasing the printer such as the press or is all of that included?
Any help or directions to posts I may have looked over would be greatly appreciated!
If you are located anywhere near Anaheim you can go to SWF Mesa and get a one-on-one demo. Bring a non-textile item you would like to print on but make sure they know you are bringing it.
Your biggest challenge will be registration on the item itself. We have made jigs for each thing we want to print on.
It is a several step process. I create a template in Corel that has non-printing (for my final prints) markers. I then print these on the bed of the kiosk. From that I make a holder from wood or clear plexi-glass and then I can set my item to print in it.
An example would be something like the golf ball holder that you can get with the kiosk. The problem is going to be registration. Where do you set it on the bed? If you make a holder for it then you can press the golf ball holder to the jig and it will always be in the same place.
I did a similar thing for tshirts that works well. I am still working on left breast placement of printing because the shirt platen with the hoop does not give enough room to print the left breast logo. I am working on just centering it and coming up with a way to register the shirt properly.
