Default BIG problem with Kiosk

Hello all.

I'm having a problem printing with my kiosk. It's a used machine with a bunch of miles on it and it will not print any file for me.

I know that the print head is functioning correctly because I was able to do head cleanings and print a bunch of really nice nozzle checks. However, when I try to print artwork it doesn't work. The head moves across the bed as if it was printing but no ink come out while it is attempting to print. The really frustrating part is that I see the lines of ink on the capping station like it should and on the pad as well. It's like this thing refuses to print on anything that is loaded in the bed.

I checked the main and logic boards and all of the connections. Everything appears to be right.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marc

I would contact the person you bought it from. Did you see it in operation prior to purchasing it? If not, was there a statement made by the seller that it worked properly? The next best thing would be to contact the manufacturer and see about a service call.

Piper,

These symptoms on a T-Jet 2 (I believe these machines are very similar) point to a bad mother board and or a bad fuse on the motherboard. The shorted motherboard or fuse could have been caused by liquid getting on the ribbon cable where it connects to the head. Check the ribbon cable and head for scorch marks at the connector to the head.

GRH

Good assesments on the printer GRH. Other potential causes - bad or improperly seated ribbon cable or improperly installed print head carriage. You may want to contact the DTG distributor for your area to have the machine serviced.

Good Luck!

Piper,

I have a DTG Kiosk that is acting the same way. The Nozzle checks all print out fine. I can even print Bars of solid color as long as its 100% Cyan, Magenta, Yellow or black. White even prints out no problem. Its only when i try to print an image that it only goes through the motions of printing but nothing comes out.

I have tried printing from Photoshop, Corel draw, and Corel PhotoPaint but the same thing happens.

The machine was working perfectly and printed roughly 100 shirts on both white, gray, navy and even black. Everything was working great then right in the middle of a print run on black shirts the white started to band. So i did a head-clean and started over. It would print fine for a couple seconds then start banding again.

I've been talking to support and they seem clueless. They said do some head-cleans after about 5 head-cleans. They told me to uninstall and reinstall the software and i have done so 3 times in a row doing a complete uninstall of all the drivers and software then rebooting. After doing so the colors quit printing.

While on the phone with support I did head-clean after head-clean as suggested till i heard a POP. The vacuum tube freaking popped right off and ink spilled all over the inside.Well at least i could now identify and fix a problem. The tube must have been loose which explained the banding. after i pushed it back on all the white printed fine but now color images fail to print.

Weve had our DTG kiosk for about 2 years. we loved it until we purchased the white ink upgrade. Since then we have had to replace the print head 3 times and the dampers at least 3 times. twice was due to the old white ink formula clogging things up. The third was do to a bad repair job by the company (finally they paid for something). they told us to buy all new inks saying the old ones were absolete and to just dump them. I really disliked dumping close to $300 worth of ink. We did it anyway. we bought all new inks including the new white ink formula and new pretreatment. Everything seemed to be working fine till this happened.

I really need to get this Printer working. its soaking up money like a sponge.

I dont mean to Hijack your thread. Its just that your problem seems similar
and i was wondering if you ever solved your problem?
Any help is appreciated.

Dragon,

I don't know if it is all of your problem but it sounds like your waste ink line from the capping station pump is plugged. Or the vent on your outer waste ink tank is stopped up (assuming you have one). This would cause the line from the pump to the waste ink tank to blow off. It will also cause printing and nozzle check problems.

I agree about your assessment on the white ink. It is a major pain in the @ss at this time. I have been printing white for over a 1 1/2 years now and have about given it up.

Regards,
GRH

Well tech support is stumped. I suggested that it might be the motherboard or ribbon cable like GRH suggeted. So now they are looking into the warranty limitations to see if they can send a new one to us. As for the line popping off, I think it was a kinked line that caused it to loosen over time until air was leaking through the connection. And it finally popped off when i was doing multiple head cleans. I found a kinked line in the waste compartment it was to long to fit properly on top of the bottle so i shortened it. Now every thing looks good. Just need to get the rest working. I wil keep ya posted.

Cheers.
