Dont know that this is an issue from anyone else, but....
If you are considering purchasing a
DTG machine, check out the warranty first. I have the
DTG Digital Kiosk, and I dont know if this applies to all the other makes our not.
I called tech support for my machine the other day. I was wanting to get an issue corrected before it goes out of warranty. I was told that any part of the machine...that the ink flows through... is
not warranty'd.
I did some checking on the parts, and all in all.... they are not expensive. I did not ask what the motherboard costs, but the print head is $299. The other items that I see that could present a problem
Capping station--- like $40
Pump/wiper assy--- $18
Dampers (where the ink goes just before going into the print head) $39 each
From what I am learning...these will be the more likely items that would go bad... the capping station is unlikely to fail.
The issue with mine that the ink sets in the capping station after a head cleaning. It builds up and then gets dragged and dropped onto the shirt. After talking with tech support, I found that the wiper/pump is the most likely culprit. The price is not bad, but found out that it may be able to be fixed. The pump itself is like a wheel with a roller. The tubing from the capping station goes into the pump. The pump moves the rollers around...pinching the tube and forcing the ink to move. Best way to imagine it is if you have seen a heart bypass machine on TV. It is possible that the tube is out of align. Not a tough fix if you are mechanically inclined at all.
Anyway... not sure about the other machines.... but if you are looking to buy... read over the warranty first.
If you have one already.... it appears... for the most part.... that repairs are not tough and parts are reasonable.
