We went down to SoCal the other week and stopped at the Anaheim office for SWF Mesa. They had the new Eclipse there. This machine is awesome. It's very well put together. We watched it print a colored image on a black shirt in just about 2 min in a single pass! The white is super bright, comparable to screen printing the picture does not do the print justice.
I'd have to do 3-4 passes of white just to even come close.
The Eclipse has 2 Print heads. The first print head has 8 channels of white and the second print head has 3 channels of white and then CMYK.
It can also print the color at 1440 dpi where the Kiosk is limited to 720 (with Rip Pro). The 1440 enables the color to be much more vivid.
I've heard rumors that on the second print head, the 3 White channels will be replaced by Red, Green and Blue to get more accurate colors.
We have our eye on this machine for our next printer!
The white on that shirt is impressive, looks good from the image, can only imagine what it looks like in person. I am afraid to ask for the retail $$ on that thing compared to the Kiosk?

Hi Byron,
if you're thinking of going with DTG Digital as a company then look into the Kiosk HM-1, I *think* the print head is the same as the Eclipse except for it only has a single print head. The HM-1 Also lays down a ton of white ink like the eclipse, plus it has many things upgraded that we've always wanted with the standard Kiosk.
AJ, I'm not sure the exact price, I guess it depends on the options. One of the reps said it was around 27k, and one of them said it was around 31k.
Thnx for the update & mind if I ask what you what DTG you are using & if you are happy with it ( forgive the direct newbie question )t... Also cool to see you are local. I have family up in Rescue, up in your area from time to time. Seems to be a good # of members in here from the northern california area ( end hijack )

No problem!
We're using the Standard Kiosk with white ink. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, but after seeing the speed and quality of the HM-1 and Eclipse, I'm ready for an upgrade. Don't get me wrong, the Kiosk is a great machine, especially if you are just starting out in your business.
Yea, lots of members from NorCal! We're in the area where it can be considered Rescue, Cameron Park or El Dorado Hills right near Green Valley Road.

Thanks for the update Adam...that does look like a nice print!
Hey Tahoe, We just picked up our DTG Kiosk on May 11th and our SWF on May 4th, maybe we crossed paths!
The printers are impressive. One thing I want to note with SWF Mesa is they are great with pre-sale support but I am somewhat disappointed with post sales support. While I would still rate them as acceptable I think the garment printing is really new to them. I already know more than they do in some areas and that isn't much!
The HM1 and Eclipse do have the same head, they are both high speed but the Eclipse is 12 channels white and the HM1 is 4. Both have advanced white ink management, my personal favourite is the HM1.

Hi Gordz, thanks for the info.
Can you tell us why you prefer the HM1 over the Eclipse?
Well the Eclipse is optimised for printing onto dark fabric, with so many chanels of white and I was doing a fair amount of non-white printing then the HM1 would be my choice. Both great printers though ! Pretty quick
Makes sense. I wish it was like that here in CA, 90% of our orders are either black or dark colored T's.
It is always surprising to see statements like this, as most of our orders, almost 90% are white shirts. This of course could be based on venue or demographic.
TahoeTomahawk what industry are you in or servicing to encouter a higher demand or request for darks?

We're just a standard printing service. Most of our orders are print on demand, but we also get the occasional batch order which are either a mix of dark / black colors or all black.
I understand. Odd huh? Then again, you do see definitive color traits in industries all the time. Lawn care companies always seem to follow the same pattern, restaurants another, medical another.
And of course Blood Drive giveaway are always white with a red heart
