What is the best ink for use in an epson 1400 for printing on t shirts. Looking at a CIS system but I see dye vs pigment and textile ink.
Will all work in the 1400??
Which CIS system works well, I saw a few post on this but I will ask again.
Thanks in advance
Randy
The 1400 (a photo printer) uses Claria dye inks naturally which are excellent for photos. No other manufacturer of OEM inks has been able to successfully duplicate the Claria inks because Epson holds the formula close to its vest. Any bulk ink system you consider should be pigment which is longer lasting on transfers. Textile inks for transfers are also pigment inks, some of the sellers of refillable carts either say heat transfer or fabric or textile inks.
as this is posted in the dtg forum im going to assume you want to print directly onto tshirts, if so any ink from inkjetcarts.us will wash straight out, you need garment ink made specifically for dtg application such as dupont etc....
thanks, that was my thinking as well. Yes it is for t shirts, thought I put that in the post. Just starting on mod for a epson 1400. Do you have a suggestion for where to purchase the cis and inks for textile ink such as dupont. A lot of places won't sell for DIY. Also any plans for a 1400, I have the ones for a C88. I have read thru the post. Kind of hit and miss on info.
my current ink of choice is staybright 4 you can buy it from the UK here StayBright4 ink - myt-jet.co.uk
the most troublefree ink i have ever used and highly recommended.
Ok, given that dupont or similar textile inks made for DTG would be best. My understanding is the inks are a little thicker and may have problems with the sponges in most CIS's. Suggestions
i only use refillable carts so i cant advise on that. But i would recommend you use them initialy, its one less thing to troubleshoot on a new setup. Also if i were you i would go for the new Epson Workforce 1100 rather than a 1400, after all your not going to get white working on a 1400, so you can just stick to cmyk which is what the new 1100 was built for. Im haveing a pop at one soonish.
