I joined a yahoo group was set up for people who want to build a DTG printer.

Found what appears to be clear, free plans for making a printer.

Anyone used the plans?

You have to join the group get the instructions.

If you are talking about the plans for the C88 Printer. You can find that here also.

If you read more in the DIYDTG section, you find that others have created their prototypes based on these plans.

It's a good starter to learn how to do it.
