also, the pump is a little superfluous since it's necessary to put pressure on the ink most of the time, the suction generated by the ink being vacated by the head is enough to maintain priming over a period of time (excluding initial priming)

Reason: More info
Yes, I've been eying this CIS on eBay as well... Where is the video? Couldn't find it on the vendor's site. Do you have experience dealing with this guy?

I don't have any experience dealing with that particular ebay seller, and I won't say all CIS are made equal but they are 90% the same, if you've installed one, there shouldn't be any trick to another. I've done ones for the R800, R360, 9800, 4880, and I just changed my solvent printer (Roland Soljet XC-540) over to a CIS. I don't recommend buying off ebay if you think you might need support for it, but the quality is pretty much the same as the person selling it for $80+ depends on if you need an english speaking support person.
I did find the auction that had the video about the priming syringe. It doesn't look like the syringe comes with the auction and I asked the seller a question and didn't get a response (6 days ago, probably chinese though) Non-OEM Bulk Ink System for Epson 1400 1410 Empty CISS - eBay (item 400049943560 end time Jun-14-09 09:00:19 PDT)
I thought that was pretty phenomenal though, never seen such easy priming on a CIS
I think the statement "May not work for the Epson 1400 printer which was manufactured in 2009" is very interesting... I know that Epson has been trying to make it difficult for the chip resetters to work. Those bastards!

I did find that statement rather alarming too, but that's the risk you take with any of the epsons, they put out firmware updates that you can "choose to install" like on my 9800 printer that fixes alot of quirks and also "fixes" the chip resetting without mentioning it in the firmware notes.
I have a brand new 1400 in box here, worst case scenario I'll have to pluck the chips out of the packin carts, glue them to the CIS carts and use a resetter if they break the compatibility.
I read other CIS systems on eBay that say theirs work with any of the 1400s... They're also more expensive ones I've seen elsewhere that say they will work as well... I'm thinking of buying a set of refillable cartridges and setting them up like the one in the video... I am at a high altitude and I think I will need a pressurized system.

I can't say I've ever had to deal with pressurized systems or having to set my oven at a higher temperature to cook my betty crocker cakes due to altitude, so I can't comment on that
Cartriges would be a good alternative in that case.
For everyone's info, I just got the CIS with the ink reset button mounted on the carriage, it works very well and I'm rather pleased with it's performance.
