Default Hewlett Packard DIY job

Hi. I'm in the middle of attempting a DIY DTG with a cheap HP inkjet printer. I've successfully separated the print head mechanism from the drive roller and extended the ribbon cable and motor power lead. However...when I set them up to try to print, I get the paper jam error report. There is only one sensor on the machine (magnetic I think) that tells the circuit when the paper reaches the drive roller. I'm trying to use this sensor as a switch to tell the printer to start printing when the t shirt is in the correct position under the print head. Has anyone any idea where the paper jam error is being picked up from? This is exremely frustrating stuff and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I've the same problem as you. I'm also using a HP printer, acutally a Deskjet 5150 (as a test attempt).

I 'hacked' my way around one sensor, take a look:

You just have to make sure that you block the light between the two black things. Just put a little paper in between. There's a second way the printer checks for paper, but I didn't figure that out yet.
