Default canon printer for DTG DIY ???

Question : can we use Canon printers (say PIXMA MP268, IP1980 etc) to build our DIY DTG printer?

in general, people use Epson printers since epson use "micropiezo technology" for their print heads.

form Canon's web site, canon use thier "patented print head technology" ... any one knows the internal details?

does it mean we cannot use Canon printers for our DIY DIG projects?

Canon would be difficult, the chips on there ink cartridges are meant to be the hardest to crack of any of the manufactures and the machines are not variable dot technology (the are 1-bit not 2bit print heads) and therefore I think would be difficult to get the ink volumes required for DTG, as they dont seem to offer the ink volumes required. When using the Epson printers you are using dot volumes for 360x360dpi at 720x720 and above to get the required ink, I am not sure this trick is possible on a Canon or if they even run at lower resolutions like this because they wouldnt put down enough ink.

Best regards

Dtg ink is cured by heat
Cannon printers eject ink with heat elements on the printhead.
The dtg ink will clog the cannon head because of the heat.
You can make a flatbed printer but you will be unable to use the dtg inks
