Hello all! I am in the process of starting up my line of high-end boutique style tees. Graphics are done, now comes the printing of the samples. I managed to find a printer in my area that does digital printing. The samples I've seen so far look great. However, there is one big problem. My printer says he can't print on my size smalls (and he cannot print on my burnout shirts either).
And, since I am targeting boutiques, which tend to order more smaller sized shirts and a more high-end (i.e., burnout, etc.), this is a major problem. I am currently using Alternative Apparel's shirts. Has anyone else ran into the problem of shirts being too small to print on? And, what is the secret of digitally printing on burnout shirts?
Pretty much any digital garment printer out there can print very small garments by simply mounting smaller shirt holders on the printer. If the print shop you went to can not print small garments you should be able to find another print shop that can.
Thanks for the reply, Harry. I figured since I have a whole closet full of small shirts, it is possible. I guess where I live, Jacksonville, FL, the printers around here just aren't used to printing like that. I am going out to the LA Market Oct. 13, and I was hoping to have all of my samples made and have a future with this printing company since they are local. But, it looks like I may have to go searching for greener pastures, perhaps when I'm in LA.
Amanda, if you can find out exactly what their "issue" is, you could ask the right questions of your next prospect. Some printers may not have all the available plattens available or a jig system set up for printing smaller harder to target spots. If these are womens cut shirts, it may also be an issue with being able to cure without creasing or matting down seams. What ever the problem is, have them discribe it to you. I guarantee there is a solution.
