Discuss the various aspects of direct to garment printing. DTG printers include Brother, T-Jet, Flexi-Jet, DTG Kiosk, Kornit, Mimaki, Tex-Jet and others! Discuss and learn about this up and coming printing technology.
Hi all, I am currently reselling colour (UK spelling of color) decals through my site and am now looking into printing them myself to make more money.
Problem is I seem to keep reading lots of conflicting info what what a budget system I should start with, so therefore I am hoping you wonderful lot can help me.
The decals I am looking to print will be small quantities and in full colour usually from the customers own design. These range from indoor promotional stickers to outdoor stickers and occasionally window stickers. Now as most of my customers are looking for small quantities I was hoping I could get away with purchasing an Epson R1900 and a cheap cutter; however, from what I understand, these prints won't last more than 2-3 years when used outside depending on ink and media used. Obviously I don't want this to happen for those customers using them outdoors.
Many others recommend Roland or something called a Falcon; however, I am not prepared to pay this much with me just starting out unless I really have to. Finally Gerber has also been mentioned (before you slate me, I know this isn't the same technology) but again I don't want to sell my house car and wife to finance my business (yet).
Anyway, looking forward to your comments and suggegtions. Please note that I am in the UK, so whatever you recommend may not be available here.
Thanks.

Sorry, also forgot to mention that I wold preferably like an all in one printer/plotter; however, this may be to much to ask on a small budget. Ease of use is must too.
Thanks.

Falcon, versacamm etc, I think you already kind of know what a print and cut unit is and the expense. Great machines no doubt, I will have one some day.
Hi Simon, It's a bit difficult to get something cheap for what you wish to do, as these printers are quite expensive to buy new. I would suggest to you to google UKsignboards.com they are a sign forum based in UK. sometimes they have on offer some refurbished printers that could help you out.
However, should I decide start printing small quantities of stickers for indoor use to cover half the requests I get, what would you recommend for this? Again, must be cheap as possible and easy to use. My intitial thoughts are an Epson R1400 or R1900 along with a suitable cutter, not sure which cutter though?
