Default White good, colors bad

Hi, I've been printing with my dtg for 3 years. I've experienced the "rainbow effect" and everything else. However, I have not experienced my white layer printing fine and then my color layer banding 5 inches below where the white started. My job is dur tomorrow. You can understand my frustration. Please help if possible.

My first thought is to increase the humidity to over 50% . This winter has been killer for low humidity and people who have not been affected by it other winters, are now having problems.

In most cases, when you get banding, it means insufficient ink is getting through the print head. You should be doing a nozzle check every morning before you start printing garments. If you are missing lines in any color then you need to do head cleanings for the print head to see if you can get those missing lines printing. If the nozzle check is good and you are still getting banding then it could be your cartridges / dampers or your ink lines. Pop out each cartridge or damper, stick in a syringe, and pull out. The ink should be able to be sucked freely into the syringe. If one of the colors is difficult to pull through, pull the ink line off the cartridge / damper, stick the syringe into the ink line, and try pulling out. If the ink flows freely through the line then your problem is the cartridge or damper itself.

Michele also makes a great point about humidity. You should have a humidity level of 40% to 80% in the area you are printing in. If you do not have one already, invest in a humidity gauge (hygrometer - under $20) so you know what your humidity level is.
