Default Power Clean starts Automatically

Hi Everyone

I have a problem with my Kimoto G-Jet (Epson 4800 based DTG) since fitting a new print head. Every time I switch on the printer it automatically starts a power clean asking me to raise both leavers and does not give me an option to quit the power clean. As the printer is working perfectly I don't want to keep wasting ink .

Any help is appreciated

Gordon

While I am not personally familiar with your printer, if this started happening immediately after you replaced your print head then I would first check the ribbon cable connections to the print head. Make sure they are not loose and are pushed in snugly. Also check that there are no burn marks on the connection points.

I have a Flexi-jet based on the Epson 4800 also.

If the Power Clean is interrupted before being totally completed, it will usually start again. This can be caused by a power interruption ( loose cable might cause this), waste tank being full, cartridges showing low on ink, or an error message. There may be additional causes I am not aware of.

I would turn off the printer, reset all chips in ink cartridges and waste tank ( if you have a resetter and refillable cartridges.) If you want to, fill your cartridges with distilled water to avoid any more ink loss while you remedy this problem. Double check cables to make sure they are correctly plugged in and not damaged, as mentioned above. Make sure the encoder strip is in the encoder strip sensor located behind the print head carriage assembly.

I recently had a print head delaminate because my Flexi-jet got stuck doing power cleans. I checked the usual things listed above but they were all fine. Turns out the ring on a motor that holds the flex rod had been broken and superglued together prior to my receiving my printer. The flex rod is removed when replacing the capping station. The superglue broke loose and the flex rod, which is part of the cleaning cycle, was moving too freely- causing the power clean cycle to repeat over and over again until it ruined my print head. I had to replace parts to get it to stop power cleaning.

Also, if the battery affixed to he motherboard goes bad, the machine may keep doing powercleans.

Thanks for all the help I now have it solved. I think it must have been the ribbon cable connections which may have been not in properly .But the problem must have started before I replaced the print head which stoped working in the middle of a power clean.

Thanks for all the great advice
