Hey everyone! I have been screen printing for the past 2.5 years. I just do some side jobs here and there but im going to get the oppertunity to be a supplier for a few guys starting a tee shirt website. I will be their only suppler and need to make the decision to go with the DTG because I will be making these shirts daily. There will be 20 designs or so, I will may only have to make one shirt of a particular design so setting up the screens would not be worth it. I told these guys I would purchase the machine if thy bought 1000 shirts up front for $6 a piece. They have just agreed and I need to get going with this. I have also been planning on going with an embriodery machine as well....I came across this deal what do you guys think? I know each machines have their pros and cons but as a package for the price is this a good deal? Thanks, Nick
Where are you located? If you are in the U.S. and east of the Mississippi River, then your distributor would be SWF East (the company Don works for). If you are west of the Mississippi River, you would have to work with Mesa Distributor - which I am not sure if they have the same deal. Just need to make sure that you are looking at a deal that you can get.
If you do decide to get both pieces of equipment, you should plan on two different trips for training. Trying to learn two different applications in the same trip will be too much for most people. See if you can start off with one piece of equipment for a couple of weeks and then take on the second piece of equipment once you have a solid understanding of the other one. Also, you want to make sure that you have extra money set away for other supplies / accessories / consumables you will need to run these pieces of equipment.
Nick, I bought a package like this but I got 2 dtgs and a 2 head embroidering machine about 2 years ago and have built my entire buisness around them. If swf east is in your area I'd say go for it.Just pay alot of attention tomthe training, and maintance. It will take a learning curve so don't promise anything to soon. If I can help let me know.
Nick,
DA Guide's advice is pretty sound. We do set up our training classes so that you can take the DTG and embroidery training in succession, but do not require it. From the sounds of your situation, DTG training should come first then schedulke your embroidery training a few weeks down the road.
Hope this helps!
Jimmy and Mark - thanks for the positive words!
