Default Machine Costs

Hi, first post here and i thought i would ask some questions after i've had a read.

We are looking at buying a direct to garment printer and living in the most isolated city in the most isolated country we kinda expect to get screwed by agents who sell equipment to us.
Things like its cheaper for us to import our ribbon from england than from the other side of the country, something like 50% cheaper.
That said we got a bit of a shock with the costs of the machines here.

i have 4 brands we are looking at, Anajet, T-jet, DTG and Kornit.
The t-jet price is pretty much on par with the states once you add freight, maybe a bit more expensive but reasonable. The anajet i'm still waiting on confirmed pricing, but I'm told its reasonable as well. The DTG i don't have a baseline to work from, but these machine seem to be on the cheaper end of the market anyway and the results from users are very mixed.

And then we move to the kornit, now i know lots of people have said they are expensive, but the quote i got make the 931ds 12 times the cost of the tjet blazer pro. I'm not sure if someone is just making a massive markup or these machine are really that expensive. my feeling is someone is trying to make a rather large buck and i would rather go the cheaper route as i just cant see a machine being that much better.

its like a Lamborghini to a Hyundai price difference, but am i going to get the lambo performance and backup.

Default Re: Machine Costs

With the dtg, make sure which machine you are getting pricing on as their are a couple of different models. The hm1 would be your higher priced single head machine because it is the newest model. The kiosk is an older model and the kiosk 2 is the older model with some upgrades. The hm1 is a completly new machine for the kiosks from the ground up, this might also be where you are seeing mixed reviews as you see feedback based on the different models. Here in the states the price point on the hm1 is actually a bit higher, then the anajet.

The tjet 3 was the newer one of the tjets but production on this machine was discontinued, but I believe now they have refurbed the tjet 3 and are calling it the tjet 3 plus, but it is my understanding these are refurbished machines. Then of course there is the blazer pro from us screen that prints three shirts at a time, there is also a machine from dtg that is a double head machine called the eclipse and it also prints 3 shirts at a time, I believe both of these machines are fairly close in price. And of course the Kornit is in a class of its own with a much higher price tag as this one uses different inks that are much cheaper then the dupont inks that the other machines use, it also applies the pretreatment as part of the printing process, where as with the smaller format machines you apply it seperately

Hope this helps some in understanding the different printers and why they are priced differently.
