Discuss the various aspects of direct to garment printing. DTG printers include Brother, T-Jet, Flexi-Jet, DTG Kiosk, Kornit, Mimaki, Tex-Jet and others! Discuss and learn about this up and coming printing technology.
We have been researching Garment printers and I am in a tailspin. I have a friend with a Brother, another with a Flexijet, and another with a T-jet. I am at a loss which one to get.
I want to print on Black - so that takes out the Brother, but what are the feelings for the others? Plus, I know there are even more choices, Anajet, DTG, etc.... ahhhh! It's so overwhelming.
Last year we purchased a Brother Embroidery machine. They were out so they gave us the store model that they swore they used ONCE. From the second I got it home, it has given me nothing but trouble. So I am sitting on a $12K dust collector. It's very disappointing.
SO, I don't think I can bear for ANOTHER disappointment like this. I know all machines have their pros and cons but if you could vote, what you you buy again? And why? PS, do all machines print on tile?
I just spent the last few hours talking 2 two different Brother reps and they are losers! Didn't bother to help me at all. So I am torn still between the Flexi, Anajet, and DTG. Anyone? any preferences or concerns?
Other than printing white ink, what other requirements do you have? Do you want a portable machine? What is the largest printable area that you want to do? Is ink cost the most important thing for you? Where are you located? (This might be an issue when it comes to support, parts and consumables).
We need to know more about your business model before anyone can really give you a good recommendation. You might want to read through this document as it will give you a little bit more information on dtg printing, the process, the equipment, dtg ink and more - www.multirip.com/dtg101.pdf.
Mark, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for helping me out. It has been a rough few years trusting people and making poor decisions. so I really want to make a good decision with this.
Nope, don't need a portable machine. I just want one that prints clearly and nicely. I don't like to skate by with mediocre work (that is why I favored the Brother, their work is great but not printing on black is going to be hard)
I guess I need a full size for the back of men's tees. What size is that? Right now I do a lot of embroidery for the military (hubby is a marine) so that was what we were going to continue to do. We are in San Diego. close to LA so I think we are safe for supplies right?
Thank you for the link. I will read it and study it now!! I am very eager to learn more. I wish the convention in Long Beach is tomorrow since we need this machine like yesterday! We are doing a huge airshow this fall and that is why we are leaning towards getting a machine rather then paying my friend $2-2.50 a shirt. Though it's a great deal, I still have to pay the $3K booth fee. And I wand to do more then just break even, you know?! That's a lot of work to break even. So I figured the few hundred dollars I pay him to do the shirts, it could pay for the first month or so of the bill. Worth a shot right?

thanks!
That is really surprising because we have the Brother and I love it even though it does not print on black but the guy I bought mine off of is simply the best. He answers any questions I have and is very helpful
I myself own the dtg HM1 and love it. You will find that most people are happy to own whatever machine they own. The best thing to do is go to a show and see them in action, get samples and wash test them and do lots of research on what machine you like and that fits your business model. Here is a link to a thread that has the answers to the questions you asked answered by machine owners. Hope this helps What DTG machine do you own and how did you make your decision on it :)

Thanks! Yea, I called DTG first and they were super nice! And their prices were great! Plus I liked that they had leasing options.
I want to go to a show but I need it before then. From what I have gathered, I am leaning towards the AnaJet. It says you are in S. Cali. I am in San Diego? Where are you?
This is a discussion about newbie with the age old question, which one? that was posted in the Direct to Garment (DTG) Inkjet Printing section of the forums.
