I recently spoke with some printing contractors & they said they use the direct to garment printing up until that point I was only familiar with sreenprinting and the heatpress. I also would like to learn as much as possible about DTG especially the equiptment used, methods, and quality, durability.

For a small operation the press is the most practical method. and is best way to begin with. A flash drier would not be as good because it does not give you airflow, and you would really have to be diligent with timing and temperature management. A clam type heat-press can be bought with a timer and a self release. Personally I would vote for infra-air as the best overall, though you do have to consider the size of where you need to put all this, the cost and your printing volume. The drawbacks of the heatpress is that because to have contact, there is some compression of the fabric around seam areas and wrinkles that you have to be concerned with. With the air drier you have the flow that takes away the moisture and this allows the ink to first dry, then achieve a "cure" by reaching the threshhold temperature. If there is still water in the ink, the highest temp that will happen is 212 F. perod. Pressure in itself does nothing but put a more intimate contact between the heating element and the substrate, and it's debatable that too much pressure is bad because it will not let the steam escape fast enough, where a dryer is got more room for water to boil off and escape. You must have air-flow Though, and it should be vented. It will not be good to operate this in an environment of high humidity and not have enough air to remove the moisture. This is why a general small plastisol type dryer will not work. In any case, it would be best to check temps with sensing tape or one of the electronic models.

That's it? Grand's question was not answered.
What I want to know is simply the basics.
What is the printer like, is this machine required (yah I might be that dumb, hey it's an FAQ). Cos basically, I've heard that one can use spray adhesive on fabric, stick that on paper, and run it through a printer, so why not on a t-shirt? He he thanks.
Back to the machines/printers, how big is it. How much does it cost.
How does the look and feel relate to screen printing and heat pressing?

Sam
The ink that you list is currently being tested in the states, and when everything is satifactory the information will be released, also those inks will not just be for the Flexi but most DTGP's.
