Default Is it expensive to start a custom online printing site?

Hi there, I'm looking into starting an online business and this website was an awesome find.

I am having trouble finding costs for everything, and i am hoping that some kind soul from here could help me.

Can anyone give me an estimate of the total equipment cost? The cost of making one t-shirt? The cost of buying blank t-shirts? How is the market for a business like this right now?

All info would be super thanks!

Equipment to print t-shirts. I just read up on silk screening, but it would be too much work for orders of one, custom shirt.

How about iron ons? Is this method a good one? It would be the cheapest way to start up i think. All you'd need is computer software, iron on transfer paper and a printer.

I'm completley new to all of this so any info would be helpful

Saturated.

If you want to become another custom online printer, good luck.

If you want to release your own clothing line and brand online, good luck.

This business really has become saturated with the "fly-by-night" printing companies and clothing lines. If you are only looking at being an online company, I truly wish you good luck. You will need it.

With the explosion of the internet, many super-companies have formed who are like the Wal-Marts of custom printing. Customink.com is one really good example for this. Ebay has also brought in a multitude of online companies whose sole marketing focus is low price (good for most internet shoppers).

If you want to start a successful printing company today, you will want to extend from the online audience and offer people in your own locale the other things to market on, custom art design, small-company customer service, fast turnaround, product delivery, etc.

I don't want to discourage anyone, but for your own business and financial security; make your market, create your niche, and provide things that aren't already available. I actually would like to encourage any sort of entrepreneurial effort and would love to give help to anyone needing startup assistance, simply PM me and ask!

For anyone starting any sort of business, I truly wish you Good Luck!

I thank youi for your advice. Our plan (me and BF) is to sell shirts, posters etc, but not just the regular old personalized tees, it would all be original artwork.

My bf is an amazing artist, and he is going to dessign all the products and, offer people the chance to use their design, but with his artwork.

Do you still think that it would be hard? Is that a clothing line, or just the same old market of personalized tees? We haven't thought much about selling locally because we live in a community of 5000, and it's very secluded.

Thanks again for replying.
