I'm thinking of ordering from an all in one U.S. print-house like printmytees or inkscreens. If the garments are NAFTA friendly (i.e. American Apparel or Alstyle), am I correct in that I won't have to pay any import tariffs? Even with shipping, their prices seem to be very competitive than what I can find locally.
Duty fees or UPS type brokerage fees? Any idea what percentage or $$$ value I would be looking at?
All depends on who is the shipper. For example, UPS has got some of the most expensive fees around to my knowledge. I always knew this but made the mistake of placing an order with someone who uses UPS. My order in US currency was right around $100 US... converted to cdn was 125. UPS did the brokering since I had not set up with anyone else yet, their fee? $42 cdn plus GST. Be nice if I could get a kiss first next time.
Lesson learned and setting up with customs broker first thing Monday morning, they figured it would have cost me $11 cdn or less through them.
