Ok, Im just gonna put it out there...I'm am getting really discouraged with my cafepress site. I have had it for over two months now and still not one sale!!
I am not a website designer so I don't know how to make a crazy flashy site that doesn't look like a cafepress site, But I did the best I could. I re-worked and re-worked my tags and descriptions. I am really starting to simply doubt my art work. Will someone PLEASE visit my site and give me a brutally honest opinion of the whole thing? The look of the site, the artwork, the descriptions? Don't worry about hurting my feelings, those I'll get back after I make a sale
I have heard of so many people getting on here and after a couple of weeks they are at least reporting some sales.
Is there something more I can do in tearms of marketing. My niche is Military so I am not by a base at the moment but I have joined forums, made a myspace page, joined myspace groups, and made a squidoo lens....
HELP!!!!
The way I see it your site looks good!
I would just do all the promoting I could with myspace, facebook and anything else.
myspace is a great way to promote your clothing if you know how to do it the right way.
make banners and try to add as many people as possible, then ask them to add your banner with a link to your shop on there myspace.
just spread the word!
I'm sure you'll make a sale in no time
I looked at your site and my first thought is maybe having more designs available. Maybe come up with some more for your youth section and on the womens maybe have the designs be a little more different than the mens. Just remember that people like to have a good selection. Not too many but more than a few
noiejean-thanks for the support and i agree with trying to promote the heck out of myself on myspace but I got a little stuck. I know how to make a banner on my site that someone can click on and it will take you to my cafepress site however I can't figure out how to post that same code so others can copy and post it to their site. I know I have to find a scroll box of some kind and place my banner code in it but when I do it comes up as a scroll bar with the image of my banner not just the text that can be copied and pasted. I'm stuck
Does anyone know how to do that?
See, Not to sound dense (i am a newbie) but why did it just show up as text above in my reply however when I try to post it on my myspace site it automatically turns it into an image link that can't be copied
I went to your site. Here's some feedback for you. Your site "looks" very nice. Nice layout, easy to nav, great colors. Here's some things to think about:
1. Get at least one of your designs for each category on Page 1. Very important to get them out there and up front. If you only get One Click, make it count. Don't make them dig to see what you do.
2. I have no idea from your site what kind of tee you print on. A boxy tee? A fashion tee? Full cotton? 5050? I always prefer to see the shirts, or at least one man's and one woman's model to I know what the tee itself looks like.
3. I wasn't thrilled to click on the woman's first, and then click on the man's next, only to see the same designs. This is where models in your actual shirts can help. If you offer the same design to both genders, you can show the men in manly colors - the greens, blacks, and blues, while showing female models in your shirts in pinks, yellows, baby blues, and it will help the potential buyer envision the design as something either can wear.
4. If you are going to carry the same designs in youth and infant, don't make two categories. Infants are youth, they aren't adults. lol.
Watch your spelling, pricy is spelled wrong on page one, that always leads to a feeling of less than professional, and "will they misspell on my shirt?" could be a question that could go through their mind.
Otherwise, I thought calling the categories PX was extremely clever. My Dad used to take me to the PX every week for years... it was so cool to go there... very nice touch. Best regards to you... Kelly
PS: I'm going, Sunny, I'm going, LOL... good night all!! :D
Hi. I think your site looks pretty good! I like the colors and the general design. I don't have a CafePress site, so I am not familiar with its capabilities. Could you possibly have pictures of your product on your front page? And I don't just mean the shirt slogans, I mean the actual pictures of the shirts with the slogans on them. If people visiting your page could see the shirts sooner, that might help.
Also, I think that the images of some of your slogans make the text look small and hard to read-- for example, the "Those Who Bleed Courage..." and the "I've never heard..." slogans. I'm sure the slogans aren't hard to read on the shirts because they would be in much larger text, but when you first click on that page, some of the slogans/images look small and don't "read" as well as they might. I think the images of your shirts look nice.
I was a little confused at first between your 2 sites. I linked to your dixonclothing site from your cafepress site, but I wasn't sure why you are doing the 2 store options (cafepress and your own cart)? Also, the prices are different between the two? Maybe some of these things can be clarified to make things less confusing for the consumer.
As for your marketing, what kind of myspace groups and other forums did you join?
Hi, Andi - First, your site looks fine, but why have men's and women's sections if they are essentially the same? (PX is a great idea.)
Your Dixion Clothing site is Fantastic! Whoever helped you on that site - get them to help you on your cafepress site. Also, as already mentioned, having different prices for the same products on the two sites can be a little confusing for the customer.
Now, for what I see as a major problem (just my 2 cents of course) is your name - Militant Mind. To me, the word "Militant" does not equal "Military." In fact, it has the opposite connotation. A "Militant" is someone who is against authority, and very often against the Military.
How many people see your name and don't go to your site thinking it' something else? Again, there is some confusion. MilitaryMind would be a much stronger name.
What off-line marketing are you doing? Sending out post-cards, giving away shirts, etc. will get you noticed and you can start building your customer base.
Your stuff is good so don't worry - good things come to those who wait. All the Best to You and the Troops!

Hey I checked out your site and I have to say I like the way it looks. It's a good idea. As another poster said up above maybe a few more designs would not hurt. Perhaps some designs a little more geared towards your womens selections not just recycled men's designs. Maybe something a little softer but with the same idea . Just my .02

But when I do you dont see that actual code, you see the banner/image link What am I doing wrong?
alrighty,
I've known of SO many people to be stuck on this problem, but the anwser is a quick fix.
just but the code that you stated inside this
<textbox>CODEHERE!</textbox>
then the code will appear and not the picture
Awesome advice, girlzndollz. The only thing is that pricey is spelled "p-r-i-c-e-y", she got it right.
LOL, thanks, BA.... later on I was thinking, maybe that is "pricey", and thought, gee, I think I'm not sure how to spell that... Thanks so much, I was figured if I don't get to it first, someone will let me know...
Sorry, Andi!!! Not harm intended. Best regards, Kelly
Wow!! I love this forum!!
What great advice, thank you all
Here is my take on it...
I know for sure I need more designs. The problem is I don't know photoshop. I am slowly and I mean slowly learning it. Dixonclothing.com and all my designs for militant mind was actually done by a VERY nice family friend/web designer.
Kelly- first of all no harm no foul on the "pricey" thing I totally agree with getting some designs on the top pages I just don't know how.....It would be awsome if I could use the models and shirts from the dixonclothing.com site but I have no idea how to do that. Also I wanted to ask you, Are you sugesting I put them in the place of the px star logos?
Bareapparel- I agree with you about the logos and slogans being too small to read. this is something I have been struggling with. It only allows so many mega pixles and size so that is how it comes out when I have to shrink it to that size.....Still stuck on that one It's a problem in the market place because I can search out and find my things but you cant read them....Major problem!!
Also I agree and I am going to remove the link from militant mind to dixon clothing. Too confusing. Dixon clothing isn't up and running yet cause I can't afford to silkscreen enough stock, and It's very expesive to do one off's.
Tom- I never looked at it that way about the name. I guess I thought the word militant gave it that little rebellious flare I was looking for, to hear an outside consumer opinion really helps. It is confusing. I'm thinking about changing it to Military mind. As far as marketing I am on my space and joined as many army wife and military groups and posted in the forums to come check me out but I think it sounds a little too spammy maybe....I also just try to web surf around and find any other military/Army forums and join those too. So far no sales As far as off line marketing I would like to send out some post cards but to who??? How do you get a hold of adresses of people in your niche??
noiejean- I will try that link your a life saver!
Thanks everyone...Keep the advice comming, I need all the help I can get!!
