Default Buying in bulk from Cafepress

Hi folks...

Do any of you cafepress members buy in bulk from Cafepress to sell elsewhere like on eBay, fleamarkets, swapmeets or craftshows?

Just curious.

Thanks,
Mark

Back before I started printing my own shirts and was using Cafepress as my main store that is exactly what I did.

This type of thing is my only complaint when it comes to CP but at the same time, i completely understand. Whether it's for myself for selling at a flea market or a request to sell my stuff at a retail store, it's very hard to buy in bulk from CP because the prices just aren't low enough. I think the best course of action is to find a local printer for those bulk orders.

If you're buying the common items like t-shirts, it's best to find a local screen printer for bulk purchases.

CafePress is great for printing on demand, but bulk pricing (even when they have sales) isn't their strong suit.

I have a Cafepress premium shop which I started in January of 2006. Each year I see more and more sales, and this past Christmas I made the 1st Tier bonus.

Do you think more people would see my shirts on eBay than on cafepress? I mean I could probably spend money advertising my Cafepress URL somewhere, but I looked into that and THAT is EXPENSIVE.

I don't know, I'm just trying to create a steadier side income for when I get ready to retire. I was thinking about getting my own heat press, but it seems that heat pressing my own shirts is an art into itself and also appears to be an endeavour that can bite you back if you're not careful.

Oh, and Burntees, you have some of the funniest designs I've EVER seen. LOL and thanks, folks.

can you provide a link to your shop? My guess is that you should work on SEO before spending any advertising money.

Probably not.

Any place you sell your shirts, you're going to need to do some type of advertising/marketing to drive sales to your store.

I don't really understand how people who use cafepress can make any money on ebay or a flea market. Both these places attract bargain hunters, and even the CP base price is more than most would probably be willing to pay.
Especially a flea market type situation. The ones around here only seem to be about selling lame stuff you could get at any dollar store or big lots like bars of soap and socks, and often the sellers have a family connection in Asia that sends them stuff on the cheap. The only flea market I like has a strongly enforced 20 years or older policy, so CP items wouldn't fly.

This is just my opinion. At other types of places like craft fair or music festival you might do OK.

Please try to find a local screen printer instead of using Cafe Express - you will prob get a better price anyway.

When you are talking about a local printer, are you referring to a local online printer with a brick and mortar location somewhere? Or literally one in your hometown?

Do you think that in the long run it is more profitable with your own website or having an ebay store vs cafepress?

I think they may be suggesting one in your "neighborhood". If you are wanting to order bulk, then you can buy tees at wholesale and take them to your local printer and have them printed at wholesale prices- atleast that is how my local company does. And the profits are greater- which is always a good thing
