Default Opinions please on my designs

Hi all,

I'm a T-shirt design newbie - I got into T-shirts design via Cafepress as I just couldn't find designs that inspired me in my main interests of DJing and photography. Plus I've always been interested in graphic design, though I have little experience in it.

I would be grateful for the opinions of you guys and gals here - I had a nosey through these forums before joining and was impressed at the knowledge level and friendliness.

I know that my homepage needs work (its very much a temporary arrangement) and I need to up the number of designs (plenty in the pipeline).

What I would like your opinions on is the general quality of my designs, shop layout and other things like titling and descriptions as I am not confident about these areas.

If there are things I could be doing better, I would like to learn that lesson now rather than later. Although this is more of a hobby than a business at the moment, I would like to be able to at least an enough to cover my costs and buy my own gear out of the profits.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Andreas, welcome to the forums! As far as your designs, the ones with the records are very niche oriented. I have no idea as to how they would sell. The rabbit is a good idea and could be expanded to all sorts of animals. In the area where I live a deer would probably sell well. Good luck don't give up.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the feedback. Indeed DJing is very niche but for some reason most of the designs that come into my head are to do with DJing or music.

Glad you like the 'Rabbit Yum' - a few people have mentioned they like that idea. I will definitly exploring more animal edibles as time allows.

Its just tricky trying to find the time to draw up the designs that are in my sketchpad at the moment as this is very much a 'spare time' business. Maybe one day I can make a living from this - who know?!

Hey,

one thing you should keep in mind is that your designs get printed direct on the garment. Meaning it will be not as detailed as it would be on paper. Don't use too thin lines, too small details. Like your 4 beat loob design for example. I doubt the outcome will be like you would expect it from the preview. It will look good on the cup or on a mousepad, but the the thin lines and small details will simply bleed into the fabric.

Yes - I noticed that on the t-shirts I ordered for myself. There is some inevitable 'bleed' of the dyes on fabric.

Something to keep in mind for the future
