So I just started my own t-shirt company called "Pretty Boy" its more of a skateboard/Streetwear brand. Im interseted in hearing what are the steps to trademark or copyright my designs/name.

- How do i get it where no one can use the name "Pretty Boy"

- did you do this with your t-shirt company name or designs?

For your company name you would trademark it.

For your designs you would copyright them.

You would need to trademark the name or logo. But I think Floyd Mayweather already has a clothing brand named Pretty Boy. You should probably consult an Intellectual Property attorney, or at least do some searching on uspto.gov.

You can do a trademark search at United States Patent and Trademark Office (click on the Search Marks link under Trademarks). You will want to check whether the mark is live (i.e., someone is actively using it and they are paying the trademark fees) and the category for which it was registered. There is one called Pretty Boy Clothing specifically. If someone is using the term Pretty Boy for clothing - you can't use the name for your clothing items. So, you'll have to pick a different name.
