Default Fair Compensation for Silk Screen Help

Hello All,

We are a start up and we have an individual that is assiting us in screen printing. He has about a year of experience according to him but has never burned screens or done that side of the business.

We are located in Florida so need to take that into consideration for pay scale.

What is a fair per piece compensation for him as a contrator?

Do you increase compensation as the number of colors and locations increase?

What is the compensation range for screen printers per hour?
Entry Level?
Medium Experience?
Senior Level?

Thanks,

I'm curious to hear some owner's experience in paying printers, but this gives you a place to start:
Screen Printer Salaries | Indeed.com

Our minimum wage is $8.40.

Screen techs usually get $8.50.
Manual shirt printers get $9-11 (medium experience).
Automatic shirt printers get $12-15 (most experienced).

Shop help like folder, stacker, etc is usually minimum wage.

If he doesn't know how to burn screens, he won't be much use unless you already know how to burn screens yourself.

Minimum wage is 8.40 here too.

In our 5-person shop, the "screen technician" reclaims, preps and burns screens, as well as helping in other areas depending on workload. That person starts at 9.00/hr.

For both manual/auto press operators who have experience, we pay in the range of 12-17.00/hr.

Have not had any exposure to pay-for-piecework so I can't help with any ideas there, sorry!
