Default Art licensing help

I'm a graphic designer who has created a brand. This brand includes designs for t-shirts and other apparel items. I've had offers to license my work but I'm unsure of what figures are normal.

One group wants to do it this way. They want to pay me something for the initial design, how much I have no idea. Then they want to pay me a flat fee per unit that design is used on. The items could range anywhere from a $15 ss t-shirt to a $300 embroidered leather jacket, your guess is as good as mine.

My question is, how does this normally work? Does it go off of flat fees, percentages or what? What kinds of numbers should I be looking at as fair? I don't want to be greedy but I don't want to leave money on the table.

Can anyone help with advice or point me to someone who might know?

That's a tough one. Check your PMs.

There are also many books available on Amazon that could help you navigate this road. Some of them seem to have some really terrific reviews - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?ur...ensing&x=0&y=0

If you can't afford to pay for an attorney, maybe you could take a look at some of the books.
