Hello! I will have an HM1 within about a week and am trying to figure out what I need to make sure I'm legal. From what I understand, I need a Tax I.D., Business Lic. and a Sellers Lic. The printer is going to set up in our spare room, so I don't know about any issues there. My hope of course is to have a store within the next few years and branch off into other parts of the business. Any advice would be helpful.

If you are not employing anyone else, and as long as it will be a sole-proprietor setup, you do not need to get a tax id!

The necessities on business licenses or sellers licenses will depend on the state and local regulations that you will need to follow.

For example in Indiana, I simply filed a Assumed Name Certificate (DBA) will my county recorder so that I could add my businesses name to my bank account. I applied for a Retail Sales permit in with the State of Indiana and I was legit. Only cost me $25, and I was ready to open business!
