This might be a silly question...
But I want to make it clear.

State Tax ID#
and
Sales and Use Tax Permit ID#(called in CA)

they are the same thing???

sales permit is different than tax id I think...

I am still a bit confused about the State Tax ID#...

I found someone wrote this..."Reseller's permits are for reporting sales taxes in your state."
Does this mean that once I get my Sales and Use Tax Permit# by applying Seller's permits, I can use the ID# as my state tax ID#???
Or do I have to do something to obtain the state tax ID#?

I live in Alabama. We have a state sales tax number that I pay my state sales tax to, and my county and city taxes are reported to a company that collects for the counties and cities, a different ID #. When a supplier or legal entity asks me for a Tax ID #, they either want your social sceurity # or Federal ID #, or my sales tax number. Most tee shirt suppliers want your sales tax number or tax ID #, which is the same thing, at least for me here in Alabama since 1976.
If this is confusing, I'm a confusing fellow. The company that collects taxes for the cities and counties was started with some people finding a need and filling it, The state would collect local taxes and take their time paying to the locals. This company apparently charges a fee, then remits the local tax collections in a more timely matter.
