Default confusion on legal matters

hello forum, i am not quite sure of the process of selling my tshirts. if i am planning on initially jus selling tshirts via ebay auctions do i need to do anything legally regarding a DBA or taxes? i live in new york state if that helps.

Technically, selling merchandise over the internet to NY residents requires the collection of sales tax if applicable. You are not required to collect sales tax on sales outside of NY.

I would check out the NY State site regarding their rules for sales tax.

You do not need a DBA unless you are using a name other than your individual name. If you are going by a trade name, then you should have it registered. This is usually done with your city/county.
