Default Does anyone have a preference to

I recently spoke with a merchant rep from Bank of America and I feel their rates are pretty high. Does anyone recommend some place with lower fees?

They wanted $245 to setup the gateway account. A $31.90 monthly fee and 2.12% for all credit card transactions.

Buy Quickbooks and then go to the credit card section and click on it. Get the phone number and give them a call. I got a monthly fee of $17.95, Minimum transaction fee of $20, and an $59 set up fee that was waved. I think there was an $89 set up fee for a physical terminal (mine is on the computer). No cancellation fee, can quit anytime and I can do discover, visa & mastercard. A $0.23 transaction fee and 2.44%. If you get a physical terminal the fee is 1.72% + the $0.23.

I think a regular PayPal account is the way to avoid set-up and monthly fees.

I use the paypal website payments pro option. it is the same thing as a merchant account - customers do not have to leave your site and go to paypal to pay.. they charge $30 a month and the gateway is FREE.. I did a bunch of comparissons with other companies, including B of A and paypal seemed to be the best deal as far as usability and ease of installation.. CHECK IT OUT HERE

Many open source shopping carts have the option to install the payments pro for paypal addon.
