Default Copy Right Protection Act Help

New Question to all the copy right experts out there!!!

I have a very simple design with words on it and it can come in different colors. I really would like to copy right this design because I have alot of confidence that it will sell fast on t-shirts.

Does anyone know what the copy right laws are pertaining to same design but offered in numerous colors, and will all the words and design be covered under the copy right protection act?

Is it worth my effort and cost to copy right a design?

Thanks a bunch!
Kathleen

HI,

First off, I am no expert

But, you should look into trademarking the words. You trademark them with a basic font and in black and white so those specific words are yours no matter what.

You can look up the copyright vs trademarking info here on the left side panel under resources.

Have you checked out the copyright.gov website? Lots of good info.

I would definitely get it copyrighted. The different colors shouldn't make any difference. You can download the forms from the website.
