Default hiring interns?

hi fellow members, i am seeking advice from all the veterans out there.

so my question is this:

my friend and i are both sophmores in college and we started our tshirt company recently and our shirts are arriving with in the week. we were wondering if any of you had experiences with hiring interns? we were thinking of hiring anyone on campus that are willing to help us market our shirts and in return we will compensate them with free shirts and such. does anyone have any experience in dealing with interns?

thanks for any help!

Default Re: hiring interns?

Two words "BE CAREFUL"

In the past I hired several interns for various tasks such as marketing as well as designing. For the most part it is a fairly good and economical alternative, but theres really somethings that you should keep in mind - things that I so blindly omitted.

Having a group of interns as a street team is definitely a good way to spread the word, but you should really clear things up in the beginning, so that you could prevent any arguments in the future. IMO if you could find some friends or people you know, then you could save yourself most of the trouble. Commision-based is what i did, and it it really worked out for me. Definitely got the name out for me in the local area.

You gotta make sure you clear things up in the beginning i.e. payment methods, freebies, perks, etc.
The last thing you want is a group of angry interns claiming that you jumped ship on em and not willing to pay up.
