Default Registering the Business

I have decided to register the business as a DBA my question is can it be registered as an acronym of does it need to be the full name?

Do I need both a retail number and Registered Identification Number (rn)
are these the same thing?

It the any other thing I need to register for with this business.

You would have to tell us what state you are planning on opening your business in. Laws fluctuate from state to state.

As for the DBA, you should probably register in the full name, but it all really depends on your banker. DBAs are pretty much for banking. They let the bank know that you do have a business registered. If your bank allows you to cash checks in the acronym then register the full name. If your bank is only going to let you cash checks in the name on the DBA, then register what you will want your customer's to put on the check and which name you will market to the customers the most.

As far as the retail number, that is probably a state issue. I know in Indiana all we need is the DBA and a Retail Merchants License and we're good to go.

Ok, well first off, a DBA is not a business type. A DBA just means that you are doing business as something other than your own personal name.

You should register whatever you plan on using.

An RN and an RIN are the same things. RN stands for Registered Identification Number. Refer to this webpage for more answers to your RN questions Federal Trade Commission
