Default New to tshirt printing

Me and my mom have been talking recently. She has been encuraging me to start my own tshirt buisness. I make tshirts in my spare time as a hobby mostly for my friends and for me, i do alot of Band shirts from stencils. I use the silk screening method and i have fun doing it. Silk screening is the only thing i know at this point I havnt tried any thing else. I have a few questions.

1. In your opionen what is the best, most effective method of tshirt printing.

2. What things should I be looking at trying to start my own buisness. (Could i please get some links for help.)

Could you please just give a newbie some hints and pointers, I understand this isnt just some small thing, I am very serouse about this and joined this forum so i could read feed back from people that own their own buisness.

My mother has been telling me she will help me on the finance end ... she has a very decent job and so i belive i could get the money to start this, I just need to know what im getting my self into.

Welcome Rob. You're doing the best thing you could do. Lots of research. There are so many ways to create shirts but it truely depends on your group you want to sell to. Heat transfers is where I have started but there are frustrations there and several different ways to make the transfers. Vinyl is where I want to add on next. All you can do is read through posts, see what trips your trigger and start there. Good Luck!

Treat it like a business and not as a hobby, and you should do fine. Plan plan plan! Figure out who your target customers are, how to reach them, and what their interests are. Most importantly, create a genuine connection with them so that they know you are sincere. Always find ways to stay ahead of your competitiors and keep your business and designs fresh. Give your customers a reason to keep coming back for more.

And like Heidi said, research EVERYTHING!
