This section of the forum is for discussing the business and finance issues of the t-shirt industry. Which business structure to use (sole proprietor, LLC, S Corp, etc), how to handle billing, where to register your business and get the proper licensing, etc.
This I'm sure this is somewhere in the forum. Does anyone here have a merchant account for their web-site that does not have a card present feature. Meaning if you go to a trade show you can not scan a CC with a processor but have to manually input info later at your web merchant account. This is my situation. My other question is would it make since to get another account in addition to my web merchant that does allow a card present feature such as the merchant warehouse. Advice please!!!

Have you asked your merchant account provider if they can provide a card present feature?
Yes, I have Rodney and they are telling me I should go to the host of my site and get them to change it to card present. I asked the host about it and they do not really know. Authorize.net is my merchant account holder.
Unless you have significant card present sales, it is not worth a second account and I don't think Authorizenet does them, anyhow. Who you have your actual merchant account with could make a difference.
You can call in the sales and get a voice authorization at the time of sale and then later enter the sale through your virtual terminal / gateway.
Or, you can just wing it, get the info and enter it later, without calling it in. I've done that for yearrs and have never had a decline. Mall cart sales and even flea market sales and never any problems.
Be sure and get the billing address and the CCV number, as you will need the address to enter the sale and the CCV will get a lower rate.
If you do call in the sale, keep in mind that you MUST still enter the sale through the gateway, as a voice authorization does not actually process the sale. If doing a voice call from a regular terminal you still need to batch out the sale.
With minimum fees, monthly statement fees, etc. you may be better off to run through your gateway than have two seperate accounts, even though you will higher percentages with the gateway.
Put the pencil to it before opening a second account.
