Default Anyone have tips on having people advertising on your site?

Okay so I have pomdered about this and thought that a cool way to make extra money was to have people advertise on my site. What is the process of doing that? Should I advertise in a high trafficed area also in order of having more people seeing my site and that way my site ends up with a lot of traffic... Anyone please help!

Are you talking about an ecommerce site?

Doesn't sound like a good place to put up advertising.

Well, ideally, you would have people ask you about advertising rates on your site. You actually need people that are interested in advertising on your site to make it worthwhile.

You also need traffic to your site from a targeted demographic.

Then you need to work out what type of ads you will show and how much you will charge.

But this is a "t-shirt" forum, so I'm trying to figure out how this will tie to a t-shirt business?

If you are advertising in a high traffic area, I would advertise your t-shirt business, and not try to get advertisers. Better to have focus.

I am talking about when I open my site in 2008 to make extra money I want to have banner space where people can also advertise on my site. Of course maybe not other T-shirt companies but clothing companies or other general merch. companies.

Yes, that sounds like a bad idea.

Although, interestingly enough, shirt.woot does it with Google Ads.

There's always an exception to the rule.

Like the fact that shirt.woot (or woot in general) sells "one product. everyday".

So for the people who don't want that one product or missed out on that one product, they have other options to buy.

From the woot guys themselves in their Google Ads case study:

After we sell out, you get people in saying 'Oh no, I waited too long' and asking about any similar products around. AdSense works great for both groups: early people can find other places to compare to, and later people who miss the deal can still find the product elsewhere through the Google ads."

If not for its advertising revenue, Woot.com would essentially stop making money when a product sells out.

I'm sorry, it's a bad idea. In ecommerce, you don't EVER want to advertise a competitior on your site, giving the customer a chance to leave your site and buy elsewhere. And if the link is to another clothing site of ANY kind, then they are a competitior.
