Question paper work

I've recently moved from michigan to washington and I registered my company name with Detroit and recieved an ein number however I never got around to register with the state of michigan. My question is do I need to apply for another ein # for washington? i also want to register the name in both states because I will be utilizing both states. is it possible for me to do this if so how do I go about putting this into action.

You shouldn't need another EIN, because it is granted on a federal level, so you should be covered in both states, and 48 more, for that matter! To register your name, you should contact the local government agencies in both states. It may be different there, but where I'm located, you can get all the information from the city/county clerk in the area your business operates out of.

You may also want to register a federal trademark, if you want to protect your name from liability, but that is a matter of personal preference. I hope I helped, if not ask again!

Best of luck to you!

In Washington state it is very easy to do the government paperwork since most everything is centralized. You will need a UBI number. You set up worker's comp minor work permits and everything elso at one time. It can all be done on-line from out of state. The only license you will need to handle locally is the city or county business permit. This generally has to be in person at the court house.
