Need to Register?

Hi There,

Someone told me i'm not allowed to use the ® symbol next to my logo without actually registering it. He reckons it will cost me at least £1000 to do it and I could face a fine of up to £30,000 if i get caught.

Anyone know anything about this subject?

They are correction the Registers symbol can only be used once you have gone through the trademark application and acceptance procedure. If you are applying for a trademark, you can use the TM symbol, but not the R symbol.

That's right, just use a TM if you haven't registered the trademark. I don't think there's a fine if using the (R) however but I wouldn't recommend it if its not registered.
