I got 2 dark color samples today from my distributor, and they feel like an Iron transfer.
I want to know if anyone knows if the samples of the Brother 782 should look lke this.
Don't think I have a sample of darks, believe they should feel similar to a plastisol screen print/transfer. You will not get the same feel that you get for lights (which is no feel whatsoever), as the white ink isn't water based.
I would think they would still be a bit softer then a plastitol transfer as it is still water based ink. Maybe there is just a heavy pretreatment on them. I would try washing them and see if that softens them up. Alot of times when to much pretreatment is applied, it can made the print feel heavier, but the excess pretreatment should wash out. Maybe even cut the print in half and wash only half, that way you can see what the wash results are like at the same time

It's not? I was under the impression that it was water based
I know I've heard the term titanium oxide used around all the white inks, although I do not own a dark capable DTG, so I am just going off of what I've read and talked with others about. DTG on Darks and screen printing are about the only things I don't have my hands directly in as far as the forums go (have a EGX-350 engraver, SP-300 solvent print/cut, GT541, C88 w/dye sub, and an old Melco 1 needle/1 head embroidery machine), but I try to keep up on everything, so hope I'm not misinformed!
Even thought the white ink has Titanium dioxide in it, it is still a water based ink. Just as plastitol is a plastics or pvc base, the dtg white ink is water based, even though it does have the titanium dioxide as a component. The liquid part of the ink is water, where with plastitol the liquid part is like a plastic.

Thanks for your informations about the dark samples I have. From my opinion I think there is too much preatreatment, since the samples weren't preatreated from an automatic preatr.. machine. But I also have dark samples from Kornit and they dont look the same.Kornit samples feel like screenprinting.By the way the dark sample from the 782 has similar feel like the kiosk.I hope something happened with the way they preatreated. When I wash them I let you know. Thanks everybody.
I got a sample of one of their dark shirts at the iss show (they used an auto pretreater), and it does have a really thick feel almost like rubber. It is no where as close to the softness of the anajet dark sample I got.
When there is to much pretreatment on a shirt it will scorch you shirt trust me on this. When it is right it almost disappears when pressed for the brother.
I think I have to wait few months before I deside to buy the new brother.I have to recheck the samples.I dont need anything that feels like heat transfer.Even with less pretreatment I think it would feel the same.Plus I want to see the difference on the new Kornit machine. For 42000 euro it might be a good deal.Any infos about the Mimaki?
